Dr. Bodomo is Associate Professor and Chair of Department of Linguistics in the School of Humanities at the University of Hong Kong and Coordinator of the University's African Studies Programme. His expertise includes: - FORMAL THEORETICAL LINGUISTICS - SYNTAX, SEMANTICS (and their interfaces): theory, description, and application (mainlyLexical-Functional Grammar)
- COGNITIVE SCIENCE/ HUMAN LANGUAGE TECHNOLOGY: IT-based language learning, Issues of Language and Literacy Education in the Information Age
- AFRICAN STUDIES: digitization of indigenous African culture, comparative African and Asian studies, diasporan communities
His current projects include writing a grammar of the Zhuang Language of southwestern China, research into the African diaspora in Asia, particularly China, and a study of ideophones in African and Asian languages. He does research on the syntactic and semantic structures of a wide range of languages, including Dagaare, English, French, Norwegian, Twi, and comparative study of Chinese and any of these languages. Beyond linguistics, he likes working out in the gym, hiking, distance running (10K - marathon), and watching soccer. He also finds time to write and recite poetry, and participates in lively debates of African and world affairs. |
