Mr Nong Duc Manh was elected by the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, ninth tenure, general secretary of the CPV Central Committee.
Hereunder is a summary biography of Nong Duc Manh.
He was born on September 11, 1940 in Cuong Loi village, Na Ri district, Bac Kan province to a farmer family of the Tay minority group. He began his career as a forestry worker and joined the revolution in 1958. He was admitted to the CPV on July 5, 1963 and became an official member of the CPV on July 10, 1964.
